Corrections Advisors will provide a broad range of advice and technical assistance on corrections assistance on corrections issues. Work typically involves assessing, monitoring and advising local corrections officers as they perform their duties and ensure that the rules and regulations governing a correctional facility are enforced.


CORRECTIONS ADVISORS SKILL SETS NEEDED

Prison operations, probation and parole operations, corrections administration and human resources, corrections training, security threat groups, correctional facilities management, classification and records, prisoner programs, prisoner transportation, emergency response, strategic planning, corrections logistics, correctional medical services and community corrections.


Responsibilities

As Corrections Advisor V and an expert in your field you will serve as the senior leader (e.g. Contingent Commanders) for large and/or complex missions, serving at the senior executive level. Level V Correction Advisors set overall mission direction, working closely with INL. A Level V Corrections Advisor will liaise regularly with senior US Government, host government and international senior leaders.


Requirements

In addition to the minimum requirements, Corrections Advisor V must:

  • Have 12 years of progressively responsible experience in corrections, four years of which must have been in senior level management and supervision (regional director or its equivalent).
  • Possess visionary skills and ability for form strong partnerships in a diverse culture.
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience in a senior level position on international corrections assistance missions.
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/law enforcement, a social science, business, accounting, or engineering or related field; or an advanced degree or law enforcement command training.
  • Possess the ability and desire to work overseas.
